Not many people identify clearly what they want or what makes them happy.
On the opposite side, our survival instincts make us aware of what we don’t want and what makes us unhappy.
Identify the unhappiness habits, then reverse the list, and you know the way to go.
Here is my top 10 habits of unhappy people:
Table of Contents
1. Feeling affected by what others say or think of you.
It’s a perfect recipe for unhappiness. Take note that one thing is to listen and process the information, another to get emotionally affected. That’s why the word ‘feeling’ is crucial here.
2. Take advice from unhappy people.
It works like magic and applies to anything else: money, physical health, mental health, spirituality, and so on.
3. Blame circumstances.
I highly recommend this one. It brought me tons of unhappiness while doing it.
4. Constantly acknowledge and reinforce the reasons why you are unhappy.
As long as you are thinking about the reasons your life is not as it should be, you are living in the past. To allow a new future to unfold, your number one priority is to let go of your past.
5. Surround yourself with unhappy people and negativity each day.
When the undesired noise is too thick around you, it’s easy to get distracted and keep the same old thinking and emotional patterns. Those are deeply linked to your subconscious programming. Change the environment according to your desire, or start limiting your negative exposure. Your surrounding should always reflect the way you want your life to unfold.
6. Say this, “I’ll be happy when…”
How wonderful to condition your happiness to something that didn’t happen yet. This way you can make sure to remain unhappy for a long time.
7. Read, watch, and listen about ways to be happy, then do nothing about what you’ve learned.
It’s one thing to know, another to internalize what you know. Most people know what they should do, but they keep that information only at a mental (thinking) level. It will never trigger the change. This habit is also good to be unsatisfied with yourself because you’re intellectually aware of your procrastination.
8. Tell yourself, “I’ll start tomorrow.”
Goes well with number 6.
9. Work and spend time on stuff that doesn’t bring you anywhere in life.
The idea of change can make people uncomfortable. When you dive into new stuff, your internal alarms signalize danger and you comfort yourself by doing frivolous activities that feel comforting.
10. Finally, find something that makes you happy, then don’t do that again.
If possible, add guilt even to the thought of doing it again.
𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀:
Acknowledge that other people are having fun, going on vacations, and having a long weekend, while you need to work as H***.
⚠️ Now reverse the list, write down the opposites and keep them close as a mantra. Spoiler alert! You might actually get happier.
The question is: 𝑨𝒓𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒊𝒕?
